The five-star property takes its name from the famed Jaffa orange, a citrus with few seeds that is particularly sweet. The hotel, which was purchased by Mr. Rosen’s U.S.-based RFR Holding, designed by John Pawson and is now part of the Luxury Collection by Marriott, opened a stone’s throw from Yoko Kitahara, an opulent new Japanese spa; from the handsome St. Peter’s church, with its New Spanish Baroque architecture and towering belfry; and from Jaffa’s elegantly restored Old City, anchored by its Ottoman-era clock tower.
Co-author David Bonter, director of Citizen Science at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology said, “From my 17 years working with people who feed birds as part of citizen science projects, I’ve heard a great deal about their impactful observations at their feeders. This study provides important information about the breadth and pattern of these experiences through responses of over 1,000 participants. The findings will help us at Project Feederwatch improve how we work with bird watchers toward our shared goal of bird conservation.”
Here we are knocking on the door of another Valentine’s Day, which means it’s time we had the talk… the talk about the birds and the bees. Before you relive any memories of teenage trauma and retreat to your happy place, I should point out that I’m talking about the actual birds and bees. In my never-ending quest to find romantic role models in the animal world, I’ve come up with some more examples of what to do, or not to do, this Valentine’s Day.

As throughout his life at our sanctuary, in his last moments, Tootsie was surrounded by vet and farm staff who had loved and cared for him. Tootsie will always be remembered here as a small, independently minded mule who was much loved by staff and supporters alike.â
BKN-WINDERMAN-COLUMN:FL — The debate for most of the season with the Miami Heat had been whether the benefits of the lottery outweighed a playoff push.
6. Make sure wildlife can get in and out. Add a ramp and build up the bottom of your pond with rocks and stones so that hedgehogs and other animals don’t get stuck.
To have any scientific value, though, this work had to encompass much larger areas. I needed a different strategy for finding and mapping stone walls. Luckily I found two troves of useful information. First, the New York State Archives had hundreds of the original land surveys from the 18th and 19th centuries. And secondly, airborne LiDAR (light detection and ranging) images were publicly available that could reveal stone walls hidden beneath the forest canopy over much larger areas than I could cover on my own by foot.
