The filmmaker is sponsored by a landowner who gives him access to a grand library and unlimited time to make his film about the ‘Eternal Plane’. It’s too much freedom. He spends a decade leafing through books and contemplating Time – the other plane. But in the end, his film unbegun and unfinished, he gives his patron what he wants, a blank screen with the lights out, a vision of the plains covered in the ‘Great Darkness’.
